Mother's photo project

In November, 2018, my mother asked me to help her make prints of beach scenes from near her then home. I had never done a print project before (normally my photography is all digital), so when I was working on her prints, I also exported a number of other photos I thought would make nice prints (for her, for myself, or for someone else). Other than the beach scenes, many of the images posted here should also be published elsewhere.

    Swiss mountains

This is a mountain ridge in Switzerland. I know the photo was taken at the top of the Gornergratbahn, which limits which mountain it can be, and it's clearly not the Matterhorn, but I don't know which mountain it actually is. Maybe Monte Rosa?

    Matterhorn

Probably the most famous mountain in Switzerland, but not the most famous angle to view it. Taken from the terminus of the Gornergratbahn.

This race was part of the qualifications for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, Korea, where Yarnold defended her Olympic gold medal, becoming the first British athlete ever to repeat as Olympic champion in a winter sport.

This image of Finlandia Hall was digitally stitched from several photos taken on my second 2017 trip to Helsinki.

    Barnacle Goose

This barnacle goose was one of many sitting on the lawn between Finlandia Hall and the new Helsinki Central Library (then under construction). These geese generate a lot of poop! They're called "barnacle" geese because the ancients, not understanding bird migration, thought they transformed from barnacles.

This is part of the Iittala Arabia Design Center in the Arabia neighborhood of Helsinki, at the end of the No. 6 tram. In addition to Iittala and Arabia ceramics and glassware, there is also a Fiskars cutlery shop; all three brands are part of the same company.
