Kingston/Plymouth Line

    Hanson station

Main St. itself is not very impressive.

If this is South Hanson, I have no idea where North Hanson would have been, unless it was on a branch line.

Whatever this walkway was intended to lead to clearly never got built...

    Halifax station

Sigh, it's another ocean of parking... of course, this station is in the middle of nowhere, so it's not like the passengers could arrive any other way.

    Halifax station

What is this? A two-track station? Yes! It's the only two-track station on the entire line!

Another one of those weird ramps. To my surprise, the inbound platform has neither an area of refuge nor a second egress; I had thought that maybe that's what these ramps were for, but no. (Note that this does imply that a lot more two-track stations can have proper platforms for both tracks, assuming the code hasn't been changed since this line was built.)

That's the signal for the passing siding, which makes me think that this station wasn't originally planned to be a two-track station, or indeed in this location.

Look, I know it's not a structural problem, YET, but those rust stains do not give a warm, fuzzy feeling about the MBTA's maintenance practices.

Neither does that. It would be simple enough to fix; who don't they? Why didn't they before it got this bad?

    Kingston station

There are oceans of parking, and then there's THIS. No, the wind turbines do NOT make it OK.

    Kingston station

There are more than a thousand spaces in this lot. Probably don't want to be stuck in space number 1000 in bad weather, because you're going to think you're walking to Disney World.

"America's Hometown Shuttle" was a narrated diesel "trolley" tour of Plymouth, operated by the Plymouth & Brockton bus line, nominally an intercity operator. Normal transit buses serving the region are operated by GATRA.

It's a five-track layover facility, but when they built it they evidently bought specialwork for six tracks and just left it unfinished. At least there were some trains actually laying over in the layover facility, given the lack of weekend service.

The line's other terminus is, or rather was, Plymouth _ technically North Plymouth, as the line has been abandoned the rest of the way into downtown Plymouth, the historic end of the line.

At the end of the line, a two-track turnaround facility (I don't think it was ever used as a layover)

I don't know what the "Pier at Cordage" is or was used for. "Cordage" comes from the former industrial user of this site, Plymouth Cordage, Company and the whole area is now called "Cordage Park".

How many people rented those apartments with the expectation of being able to walk to the train, and now have to drive to Kingston (or to wherever their ultimate destination is)?
