Back Bay Station
When the Southwest Corridor project opened in 1987, not only was the Orange Line relocated into an open cut, but commuter rail and Amtrak service was restored to the original route of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad's main line, after running for several years along the New Haven's Midland Route (aka Dorchester Branch aka the MBTA Fairmount Line) while the old New Haven viaduct was demolished. A new combined train station was built for all three services in the block between Clarendon and Dartmouth Sts., just south of an air-rights development over the Massachusetts Turnpike

Back Bay Station continues the New Haven's confusing track-numbering system, where the "main line" is tracks 1 and 2, and then all tracks left of the main get odd numbers and tracks to the right of the main get even numbers — thus Back Bay has tracks 7–5–3–1–2, with tracks 1 and 3 sharing a center platform.
