  1. 2018–19 BMW IBSF Skeleton World Cup, Lake Placid

Women's medal ceremony

During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, the Lake Placid stop on the World Cup ran an unusual compressed, two-day schedule, with the first races on Friday being women's skeleton. Area elementary schools would send large groups of children to see the race, and a special women's skeleton medal ceremony would be held at lunchtime in conjunction with educational events for the kids, so they and their chaperones could get back to their schools in time for their regular bus.

All of the actual medals are identical, but are awarded on different colored ribbons. In this case, Jacka Lölling and Elena Nikitina tied for first, so there are two gold ribbons, one bronze ribbon, and the traditional three "tin" for fourth, fifth, and sixth place.

    1980 finish house

The 1932/1980 track finish is on the other side of this building, which holds ticket booths, concessions, and (for this event) VIP reception and dining. This structure is to be replaced with a new building being constructed during the 2019–20 season prior to the 2021 World Championships and 2022 Winter Universidade.
